“Windows has detected a registry/configuration error ...”; It is one of the common error which is often faced by the people while using their computers. A lot of complains are recorded that people try to start their computer and got prompted by the above registry/configuration error. Even after pacing through the way as prompted, they get a black screen with a blinking cursor, or the computer freezes. This error also let the users, not to get into safe mode. Now the interrogation is – how to rid out the error? What are the reasons after this error? Or how to fix a registry/configuration error?

Generally the accounts for these types of errors are the failure of hard-disks or due to some other errors on hard-disks. Therefore, in order to deal with these errors, it becomes necessary to fix configuration errors on the hard-drives. Below are the steps that can be followed in case of registry/configuration errors :-

• At first you need to check if any error is existing in the hard-disk. For this, go to My Computer, select the volume which is to be checked and move to its properties. Then click on Tools tab.
• If the Tools menu appeared, click on Check Now button. After the click, a dialogue box will be displayed with Check Disk Options.
• To run Chkdsk in read only, just click on the Start button. Or skip to next step.
• To repair the errors without scanning the disk for bad sectors, select Automatically fix files system errors. Then click on Start button. Or skip to next step.
• Select the last option that is “Scan for and attempt recovery of bad sectors”, if intended to do so. And click on Start button.
• After the the click on start button, the process of checking disk will be started.

After the completion of the above procedures, it is highly recommended to go for disk-defragment on the volumes of hard-disk. Because the fragmentation of a lot of files on hard-disk results to get the registry/configuration errors later. In order to defrag the hard-drive, follow the given steps :-

• Go to My Computer and select the volume which is intended to defrag.
• After selecting it, go to its properties. Then Tools tab.
• After the menu appeared, click on the Defragment Now option.
• After the click, the process of defragmentation will be started.

Both of the above solutions can be paced through in order to fix registry/configuration errors. But unfortunately If the computer still remains with the problem, use a third party tool to overcome it. A couple of them can be found in the market or on-line.
